Got Fortitude?

Personal fortitude is the foundation of a leader's drive, courage, and resourcefulness.  On dictionary.com I found the following definition for fortitude:

Fortitude - noun -mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.

Leaders create possibilities, challenge the accepted way and status quo, offer new options and plans, and blaze new paths to success.  The thoughts and exciting innovations of leaders are inspiring to some and frightening to others.  Those who are frightened will consciously or unconsciously become doubters and obstacles to success.  In addition, leaders will encounter unsuspected obstacles, shifts in the environment beyond their awareness and control, setbacks small and large, and failures.  All leaders will fail - big and small.  If you do not fail you are not pushing your potential.  Being psychologically tough and possessing a firm foundation of fortitude to connect to in moments of doubt will allow leaders to learn from their experiences, clean up their mistakes, and have the confidence and courage to try again.

The world needs leaders to learn and try again.  So when in doubt, find your reserve of fortitude.

Know you are a leader and your leadership will stay big in any situation.
